Recently, Foripower supplied ten units of 600kW DC-DC converters and 300kW integrated DC+PCS systems for the Zhangbei Phase II 5MW flow battery energy storage project, part of China’s National Wind-Solar-Storage-Transmission Demonstration Base. The project, with a total capacity of 5MW/20MWh (4-hour duration), utilizes a vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) system and represents a key milestone in the large-scale application of long-duration energy storage technologies.
As one of the first megawatt-scale commercial deployments of VRFB technology in China, the project has been selected as part of the National Energy Administration’s inaugural energy storage technology innovation pilot program. It provides critical validation of long-duration energy storage integration within renewable energy bases, while generating valuable operational data and engineering experience for future utility-scale deployments at the hundred-megawatt level.
Foripower’s participation in this project demonstrates the technical maturity, reliability, and scalability of its flow battery PCS solutions. It further reinforces the company’s competitive position in the energy storage power conversion market and supports its continued expansion into large-scale energy storage applications.
Looking ahead, Foripower will continue to advance its core competencies in power electronics, with a focus on wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies and digital energy solutions. The company remains committed to collaborating with industry stakeholders to support the scalable and high-quality development of the global energy storage sector.
